5-Card Draw

Five card draw was the poker player’s game of choice before Texas Hold’em took the poker world by storm. The idea is to make the best five-card hand after one ‘draw’ – or substitution of cards that the player wants to discard.

Being a draw game it is played with blinds, with the player immediately to the left of the dealer posting the small blind, and the player next left posting the big blind. Each hand starts with players being dealt five hole cards. The first player to act, sitting on the left of the big blind, has the option of folding, calling or raising. This applies to each player in turn in a clockwise direction around the table until all players have acted.

With this first round of betting complete, there then follows a draw. Each player selects from his hand the cards he wishes to discard (if any) by clicking on them. You can change your mind by clicking on the card a second time.

As in the betting round, this continues in a clockwise direction around the table. When the action reaches you, simply press the button to confirm you wish to discard the cards you have selected. After all players remaining in the hand have completed their draws there is another round of betting, starting with the first player to the left of the button who has not folded their hand.

After the second betting round has been completed, the winner of the pot is determined in two ways: the player left after everyone else folds; or the player with the best hand. If more than one player has the same valued winning hand the pot is split equally between them with the suit of each hand having no bearing.

To recap, each hand progresses like this:

• Five cards are dealt to each player.
• The first round of betting begins with the player to the left of the big blind.
• Players swap, or 'draw' cards (if required).
• The second round of betting follows, beginning with the player to the left of the button.
• Showdown (if necessary).

Free Omaha Poker Games

Omaha is an exciting poker game derived from Texas Hold'em. Each player is dealt four cards ("hole cards") which belong only to that player. Five community cards are dealt face-up on the "board". In Omaha, a disc also known as "the button", serves to indicate which player is the nominal dealer for the current game. Before the game begins, the player immediately clockwise the button posts the "small blind", typically half a small bet (for example, $1 in a $2/$4 game). If there is more than one remaining player when the final betting round is complete, the last bettor or raiser shows his or her cards. If there was no bet on the final round, the player immediately clockwise the button shows his or her cards. The player with the best five-card hand wins the pot. In Omaha, players must use two and only two of their four hole cards in combination with three cards from the board. In the event of identical hands, the pot will be equally divided between the players with the best hands.

After the pot is awarded, a new game of Omaha is ready to begin. The button now moves clockwise to the next player.

Dictionar de poker

Buy-In – Suma de bani necesara pentru a lua parte la un turneu. Termenul este folosit si cu referire la banii necesari pentru a putea sa te asezi la o masa de poker.

Ante – Suma de bani pusa in joc de fiecare om de la masa pentru a incepe jocul. Nu se practica in jocurile cu blind-uri, si este considarata un pariu, fiind doar jumatate din pariul minim. Scopul este de a stimula pe toata lumea sa ramana in joc, pentru a nu pierde ante-ul deja dat.

Blind Bet – Primele doua pariuri facute de jucatorii de pe pozitiile de blind. Poarta acest nume pentru ca cei doi sunt fortati sa parieze jumatate din pariul minim (small blind) si pariul minim intreg (big blind) inainte de a fi primit macar o carte.

Straddle – Un pariu voluntar egal cu big-blindul plasat inainte odata cu blindurile, inainte de a primi carti care ofera privilegiul ultimei actiuni de pariere. Se practica predominant in jocuri de tip cashgame, iar regulile atasate de acest tip de pariu pot varia.

Call sau Bet – Simpla completare a pariului deja facut pentru a egala raise-ul unui jucator dinaintea ta.

Family-pot – Numele potului „sanatos” in care au contribuit absolut toti jucatorii de la masa.

Bump/Kick – Termen folosit uneori pentru raise-uri mici

Limp – Plasarea unui pariu minim sau a unui call pentru pariul precedent. Se foloseste si in legatura cu small blind-ul in momentul in care completeaza pariul minim pentru a intra in joc – "limping in".

Stack – Numarul de chipuri pe care le ai in joc. Se spune ca un jucator este „short stacked” atunci cand mai are putine chipuri dar si cand nu are suficiente chipuri pentru a da call sau pentru a paria.

Jocul de poker

Cea mai cunoscută variantă - la noi în ţară - este probabil, cea în care se împart câte 5 cărţi tuturor jucătorilor, fiecare jucător având dreptul să schimbe ulterior cel mult 3 cărţi, în speranţa formării unor formaţii câştigătoare.

Formaţiile de cărţi câştigătoare sunt, în ordine crescătoare:

o pereche (două cărţi la fel, ex.: 2 Aşi),

2 perechi,

3 de acelaşi fel (brelan) (ex.: 3 Valeţi),

chintă (cărţile să fie în ordine crescătoare, ex.: 10, J, Q, K, A),

culoare (toate cărţile să fie de aceeaşi culoare, ex.: cupă),

full (3 de un fel şi 2 de un alt fel),

careu (4 cărţi de acelaşi fel, ex.: 4 de 10),

chinta la culoare (cărţile in ordine crescătoare, dar si de aceeasi culoare)

chintă royală (cărţile să fie în ordine crescătoare, de aceeaşi culoare, de la 10 la A).

dacă nici un jucător de la masă nu are o astfel de formaţie, câştigă cel cu cartea cea mai mare

Alt aspect specific acestui joc este Cacealmaua. Se spune că un jucător bun de poker nu are nevoie de un noroc excepţional pentru a câştiga, deoarece îi poate analiza pe ceilalţi jucători de la masă şi îşi poate da seama cine are cărţi bune şi cine nu, drept care poate supralicita sau se poate retrage, judecându-şi mai degrabă adversarii decât propriul succes, de a fi obţinut o mână de calitate.

Poker

Poker-ul este un joc popular de cărţi în care jucătorii mizează pe valoarea superioară a combinaţiei de cărţi ("mâna") aflată în posesia lor, pariind sume de bani pentru obţinerea potului, adică a sumei puse în joc.

Câştigător este jucătorul care deţine mâna cu cea mai mare valoare în conformitate cu ierarhia cărţilor de joc, sau cel care rămâne cu cărţile în mână după ce toţi ceilalţi jucători au renunţat să joace turul respectiv.

Pokerul are mai multe variante de joc, toate fiind însă similare. În funcţie de varianta jucată, mâinile pot fi formate folosind cărţi care sunt ascunse faţă de adversari sau dintr-o combinaţie de cărţi ascunse şi cărţi arătate.

Alte jocuri care folosesc sistemul de ierarhie a mâinilor de la poker sunt cunoscute tot sub numele de "poker." Video poker-ul este un joc pe calculator pentru un singur jucător care funcţionează ca o maşină de slot.
